NEW YORK — Albert Pujols views voting for most valuable player a little differently these days.

"You have to consider everything. You have to put all the numbers together," the St. Louis standout said Monday after powering past Philadelphia's Ryan Howard to win National League MVP honors for a second time.

Pujols won despite the Cardinals finishing fourth in the NL Central, the lowest spot for an MVP winner in the league since Andre Dawson and the 1987 Chicago Cubs wound up last in the six-team NL East Division.
